Is there any difference in the rwd and fwd v6 Alfa Romeo engines from the late eighties/nineties? Are just the accessories different or are they completely different engines? Thanks.

If your question is whether you would be able to put a, say, transverse 3.2 24V engine in your Milano, GTV6 or Sports Sedan, the short answer is yes. Refer to
www.alfabb.com
, alfagtv6.com for more specific information. It will be more or less involved depending on source and application, obviously. In some cases you may need a couple of parts from a North/South V6 to fit.

Lots of people (both in the US and elsewhere) have put those engines in DeDion Alfas. (Some even manage to fit them to Spiders, but as you can imagine that it is more involved). Again, the AlfaBB forum and gtv6.com have lots of detailed technical info on that kind of swap.
It is possible to put a V6 on a 4-cylinder chassis (Alfetta, Sports Sedan...) but you would need the right propshaft and possibly gearbox. It would also be a good idea to change the brakes for bigger items.

I;m in the process of a 12v 164 motor to my 85 gtv6 conversion. There’s a few bits you need to have from a north/south v6, ideally the car’s stock engine, but it’s pretty straightforward. www.alfabb.com is a friend.

This is exactly the kind of horrible question Oppo was made for.

That sounds awesome. I don’t currently have anything to put the engine in but you can always build a car around the engine right?

There’s a couple of things you need to swap over, but as far as I can remember it’s fairly straight forward.
There's even the castings for the longitudinal engine mounts on the transverse engines. Just need tapping :)
